Wigan Athletic host Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday aiming to arrest a worrying slide in League One form. The Latics have lost four of their last five league games and sit 23rd in the table with just four points from six matches.
Wigan's recent results have been poor. They were thrashed 4-0 at home by Stockport County on 5 September, a game where Kyle Wootton, Harry Wood, Jayden Diamond and Ryan Glover all scored for the visitors. A 3-1 win over MK Dons on 2 September is their only victory in the last five, with defeats to AFC Wimbledon and Leyton Orient and a goalless draw at Sheffield Wednesday last time out completing a difficult run.
Wycombe arrive at the DW Stadium in 20th place, just two points better off than their hosts. Their form has been mixed, with a 2-1 win over Chelsea's U21 side last weekend and a 3-2 victory at Leyton Orient preceding it. They were, however, beaten 5-1 by Stockport County in late August, a result that mirrors Wigan's heavy loss to the same opponent.
The team that earned a point at Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. J. Whitworth was in goal behind a back four of J. Carragher, F. Burns, M. Fox and J. Mellish.
