Wigan Athletic winger Joseph Hungbo has joined Swindon Town on a loan deal until the end of the season. Hungbo arrives with 32 appearances in League One last season, making 16 starts and picking up three assists. He has the kind of speed and quality that Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway has been after, having ranked in the top 20 per cent of League One wide men for successful crosses last season. Hungbo also has the strong defensive work rate that is required in Swindon Town's system, ranking in the top ten per cent for duels won, recoveries, and clearances. Speaking following his loan move, Hungbo said: “I feel like after speaking to the Gaffer and understanding how he wants me to play, I feel like it will definitely bring out my best attributes. “I’m raring to go, I can’t wait to get out onto the pitch and get going. I understand it’s a new challenge, a different challenge, but I’m going to take that day by day and strength by strength, and hopefully the results can follow too.” Hungbo came through at Crystal Palace, although he never made a senior appearance there before moving to Watford in 2019. He has also played for Ross County in the Scottish Premiership and Huddersfield Town on loan. This move to Swindon will be his first taste of League Two football, having played at a higher level than this since an early loan spell at Aldershot Town. Swindon Town are still looking for more attacking reinforcements in the transfer market, but Hungbo adds to the present options of Aaron Drinan, Paul Glatzel, Joe Snowdon, and Ollie Palmer, with Harry Smith still a few weeks away from fitness.
