Wigan Athletic is set to sign Swansea City midfielder Ollie Cooper on a season-long loan. The 26-year-old has struggled for game time at the Championship club, making only 13 appearances for Wigan last season. Cooper was allowed to leave Swansea in September after struggling for game time under former boss Alan Sheehan. He has played 118 first-team games for Swansea and scored nine goals. Wigan Athletic currently sits 16th in League One, with 56 points from 46 games, and a goal difference of -9. They are 47 points behind leaders Lincoln in the title race. The move could signal the end of Cooper's time at Swansea, given that his contract expires next summer. He is poised to follow fellow former academy players Liam Cullen and Sam Parker in leaving the club this summer. Another Welsh player who has come through the ranks, Cameron Congreve, is also likely to depart, with the two-cap winger set to join Belgian club Westerlo for a seven-figure fee.
